1 : I have knots in my shoulders which massage should I book?

knots in muscles can be particular painful, so we would recommend booking a Deep Tissue Massage. Always talk to your therapist about any issue, past and present, we are here to help you and we want you to get the most out of your massage. To get the best results we would always recommend more than one treatment.

2 : Which Therapist should I choose?

All of our therapists are trained in Deep Tissue massage / Swedish massage, with options of lymphatic drainage massage and Reflexology.  if you are after a more specialist treatment and you have not been to us before, you can call for advise.

3 : Why do I get a texted message?

On the occasion the phone is not answered, it is probably because we are with a client. A text message will be sent to you on missed calls, if you can reply with a text, we will answer as they are monitored regularly.

4 : Is massage painful?

The level of pain during a massage can vary depending on your tolerance, the type of massage, and the specific techniques used. Generally, a massage is designed to provide relaxation and relief, but certain techniques may cause some discomfort, especially if you have tension or knots in specific areas.

5 : Can I get a massage with cloths on?

Yes, you can get a massage with clothes on, especially if you opt for a massage technique that is performed over clothing, such as Thai massage or chair massage. However, traditional massages often involve direct skin contact with the therapist using oils, so you may need to undress to your comfort level.

6 : Which massage is best for full body?

A Swedish massage is often considered best for a full-body experience. It incorporates various techniques such as long strokes, kneading, and circular movements to promote relaxation and improve circulation.

7 : What is the most commonly requested massage?

The most commonly requested massage is often the Swedish massage. It is a versatile and widely practiced technique that focuses on relaxation and overall well-being.

8 : Should I see a massage therapist if I’m not in pain?

Yes, you can see a massage therapist even if you’re not in pain. Regular massage therapy offers benefits beyond pain relief, such as stress reduction, improved circulation, loosen tight muscles, which may increase blood flow, leading to lower your blood pressure and overall relaxation.

9 : What if I fall asleep during my massage?

It’s not uncommon for people to fall asleep during a massage, especially if they are in a relaxed state. Massage is meant to promote relaxation, so if you fall asleep, it’s generally considered a positive response.

10 : I’m self conscious about….. what should I do?

We all have parts of our body we’re self-conscious about. Some areas you may be concerned about are:

  • Your weight
  • Unwanted body hair
  • Scars
  • Acne or other skin blemishes

If you’re self-conscious about something, please don’t let it stop you getting a massage,  communicate your concerns with the massage therapist beforehand. They are professionals trained to make you feel comfortable, they are friendly, supportive and judgement-free and address any worries you may have. If you are sensitive about a particular area, ask them to avoid it, you can always opt for a fully clothed massage.

11 : What will happen at my first massage? 

During your first massage, the therapist will likely ask about your health history, any specific concerns or goals you have for the session, and your comfort level with undressing. They will then leave the room to allow you to undress to your level of comfort and lie on the massage table. The therapist will use draping to ensure your privacy and will only uncover the area they are working on.

12 : Isn’t massage just for relaxation?

While relaxation is a significant benefit of massage, different types of massages can serve various purposes, including pain relief, injury recovery, and improving flexibility. Communicate your goals with your massage therapist so they can tailor the session to meet your needs.

13 : Is it okay to ask for more or less pressure?

Absolutely, it’s okay to ask for more or less pressure during a massage. Your comfort is essential, so feel free to communicate with the therapist about your preferences.

14 : Should I talk to my therapist during my massage?

Talking during a massage is a personal preference. Some people prefer silence to fully relax, while others may feel more comfortable engaging in conversation. Communicate your preference to the therapist, and they will respect your choice.

  • Do speak up if:
  • You’re hot or cold
  • You’re in pain
  • You have questions, or you forgot to mention something important during the consultation.

15 : How can I be sure a massage clinic is reputable?

Do your research by checking their websites or calling them. Target Therapies therapists are all licensed and certified and they are all trained to a minimum of Level 3. We are accredited with organisations such as CTHA and SMA. We will always ask you to fill out a health questionnaire prior to your first visit. Full history of notes are kept securely on our system for up to 7 years, so we can monitor your progress and personalise your treatment plan to you.  You can also read our reviews and ask for recommendations.

16 : Is there Parking at the clinic?

There is parking available onsite of our Basingstoke Belvedere House and Reigate Clinics, public parking is available at the Basingstoke Sports Centre and Winchester Clinics.
