Leg Pain Recovery

Causes of Leg Pain
Leg pain can come from a variety of everyday activities and habits. Long periods of standing, walking, running, or sitting can all place strain on the muscles and joints in the legs. Repetitive movements, sudden increases in activity, or lack of proper warm-up can also lead to discomfort.
You might notice pain after exercise, when climbing stairs, or after being on your feet all day. Tight muscles in the calves, hamstrings or thighs, poor posture, or wearing unsupportive footwear can all contribute. In some cases, tension from the hips or lower back can also refer pain down into the leg.
Leg pain often begins as a dull ache, heaviness or tightness and can develop into sharper pain, cramping, or discomfort when walking, standing or moving.
Quick Relief Technique
If your leg feels tight or sore, gentle stretching and movement can help ease tension and improve circulation.
- Stand upright and hold onto a stable surface for balance
- Step one foot back and press your heel towards the floor to stretch the calf
- Hold for 15 to 20 seconds, then switch sides
- You can also gently stretch the back of the leg by placing your heel on a low surface and leaning forward slightly
- Keep movements slow and within a comfortable range
Taking regular breaks from sitting or standing and keeping the legs moving can also help reduce stiffness and discomfort.
