What to expect during a hot stone massage

After being greeted by your therapist, we will hold a short consultation to establish if your preference is for relaxing or active deep stone treatment. Also if you have any particular areas of concern.

Your therapist will use smooth, warmed stones to massage your body using Swedish massage techniques including circular movements, kneading, tapping and vibrations.

Your therapist may place stones along your body including your back, stomach, face, palms, feet and between your fingers and toes.

FAQs about hot stone massage

Belvedere House Basingstoke and Winchester clinics offer the hot stone massage.

Drink plenty of water after your treatment to help aid recovery and to flush any toxins out of your system that have been released through massage.

Please come to your session in light, comfortable clothes that are easy to change out of/into. You will be given time before your treatment begins and at the end of your session to undress/dress. You will have a cover placed over you at all times and only the area of your body being massaged will be exposed at any point.

While suitable for most people, individuals with certain health conditions, recent injury or surgery , open wounds, skin conditions, pregnancy (please book the pregnancy massage) , high blood pressure or heat sensitivities should consult their healthcare provider before getting a hot stone massage. Ensure you have completed your online health profile so your therapist has the full picture of your health.

Post-massage, you will feel a deep sense of relaxation. We recommend drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated as it helps aid recovery and flushes any toxins out of your system that have been released through the massage.

You will experience immediate relief and relaxation, but regular sessions often yield the best results for ongoing well-being, depending on individual circumstances, conditions and goals.

I had a deep tissue massage and hot stone therapy with Lica today and can honestly say it was the best massage I’ve ever had. I’ve been suffering for a while with an extremely tight back and shoulders and Lica really knew exactly where to massage and what pressure to use. I’d definitely recommend Lica she really knows her stuff. Can’t wait till my next session. Thank you.
