A Woman Getting a Pregnancy Massage

Book a pregnancy or postpartum massage

Pregnancy massage has been specifically tailored for expectant mothers, focusing on alleviating physical discomforts associated with pregnancy, including lower back pain and swelling, as well as providing much needed relaxation.

Postpartum massage has been created for women following childbirth, usually in the weeks and months following delivery. Postpartum massage helps the body recover from the physical and emotional stress of labour and delivery, focusing on easing soreness, promoting relaxation and relieving tension.

What to expect during a pregnancy massage

After being greeted by your therapist, a short consultation will be held to identify any specific areas you would like to focus on so your therapist can best address your needs.

You will be asked to lie on the massage bed underneath the covers. Your therapist will ensure you are comfortable with specially shaped bolsters and additional cushions to make lying more comfortable. During the later stages of pregnancy, it is advisable to lie on your side with supportive cushions for both comfort and safety. Communicate with your therapist during the treatment about pressure or any discomfort you are feeling.

Please come to your session in light, comfortable clothes that are easy to change out of/into. You will be given time before your treatment begins and at the end of your session to undress/dress in privacy. You will have a cover placed over you at all times and only the area of your body being massaged will be exposed at any point.

Post-massage, you will feel relaxed, possibly sleepy, and experience relief from muscle tension. Drink plenty of water after your treatment to help aid recovery and to flush any toxins out of your system that have been released through massage.

You will experience immediate relief from discomfort, but depending on individual needs and comfort, getting a pregnancy massage once a month or more frequently may be beneficial to alleviate the discomforts often felt during pregnancy.

Pregnancy & postpartum massage is available as part of our silver membership package, to make regular sessions more affordable.

High-risk pregnancies or certain health conditions might warrant avoiding or adjusting massage techniques. Consult your GP or midwife.

I am 41 weeks pregnant and went to see Sisi, who immediately released all the tension in my back and legs. She was professional and knew the positions I would feel most comfortable sitting and lying in; I left feeling the most relaxed I had felt in days.
